Replace Background Guided Edit Step-by-Step

Open your image in Photoshop Elements
Click on the Guided Tab
Select Special Edits, then Replace Background
Make a Selection by either using the Select Subject button or one of the selection tools
Choose a background option:
Import a Photo from your computer
None for a transparent background
Color to choose a color from the Color Picker
Adobe Stock to download a photo from Adobe Stock
or from Choose Presets to use one of the included background images
Optional: Use the Move Tool to move either the subject or the background
Optional: Use Refine Edge Brush to soften the selection edges
Optional: Use Auto Match Color Tone to match the subject tone to the background tone, I have not had very good success with this option.
Click Next
Save the file if you are finished
or Continue Editing in either Quick or Advanced/Expert mode
Or take it out to print at Fujifilm or Share on Flickr
In Advanced/Expert mode you now have three layers
The foreground subject layer with the background removed by a layer mask
The foreground subject layer with the background removed by a layer mask
The new background
The original image as the original background.
If you want to use one of the PSE included Backgrounds then first make a duplicate of the background layer as a safety.
Then click on the Graphics button bottom right, and choose your new background
If you want another background choice first make a duplicate of the new background, then replace the background again.
You can now do any other adjustments that you want in Advanced/Expert mode
Save the file to save as a PSD file, and use Save As to save out to a different format like jpg or png.
Use Print to print the photo.
