Feather - Softens the edge of the selection
Contrast - Hardens the edge of the selection
Shift Edge - Moves the selection edge either in or out

Output

Output To - Use this drop down list to control how the image is output back to Photoshop Elements
Selection - Gives a selection around your subject based upon the Refined Edge. You can preview this by choosing the Marching Ants View Mode
Layer Mask - Creates a layer mask from the selection on the current layer
New Layer - Makes a new layer containing just the selected area
New Layer with Layer Mask - Makes a new layer mask with a layer mask, masking out the background. This is usually the best option.

New Document with Layer Mask - Creates a new Photoshop Elements file with the background masked out

Remember Settings check box - If you tend to use the same settings repeatedly you can save those settings so that they are set as the default settings when using Refine Edge. You can always change them if you want when using the tool

OK/Cancel - OK Outputs the image based upon your choice in Output To. Cancel simply closes Refine Edge without doing anything
